What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A series of articles about the Turkish government seeking to prevent an illegal arms deal that led to the discovery of a lost Bible dating back to the time of Christ is what inspired this book.
It was purportedly written by a disciple of Christ and correlated the Islamic view of Jesus as a prophet and not a deity.
The Catholic Church requested an opportunity to review it.
The Turkish government shipped it to Rome with a police escort, due to being valued at over $23 million Euro.
Shortly thereafter, the Pope stepped down from his position, citing medical reasons.
An Islamic cleric criticized the move given that in 2,000 years no pope had ever stepped down for such reasons, since the Catholic Church has rituals in place for when popes die in office.
When he postulated that the real reason the Pope stepped down was because he had read the lost Bible and in good conscience could no longer lead a Church based on a lie, the debate about Christ's divinity and Jesus' humanity had been reignited.
I knew then that there was a novel waiting to be written.
At present, book 3 (The Secret of God's Banker) is in the works and centers on other controversies involving the Catholic Church and an ancient artifact that will once again shake the foundations of modern religion.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters emerged as the story came to life. Each plays an integral role in moving the story forward, and I was pleasantly surprised that many fans fell in love with a supporting character, Nagi (an eccentric cryptographer and religious historian) that they often DM'd me: "When's book 2 coming out? I need my Nagi fix!"
