What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to create a story where the world in which the characters live and explore would be limitless. What's exciting about this story is that there are prehistoric, modern, and futuristic elements intertwined. In a world like this my creativity as the writer was allowed to roam free and there were no limits in terms of possibilities of what could happen in the story.
The comic book series is important for today because it explores relevant topics our world struggles with such as accepting and respecting the differences amongst people. People have become so hostile to others that are different from them and those who are from different places, or share opposing viewpoints. In this series, people from the prehistoric kingdoms have a general disdain for modern folk, and vice versa. Despite this, the main ensemble of characters overlook their differences, learn to embrace one another, and work towards a common goal. Their bond and friendship over the series eventually reduces the hostility between both worlds and inspires others to be more open and tolerant as they challenge the status quo of their societies.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The idea of characters can stem from a few different things. Sometimes it is from knowing the type of story I would like to tell. In this instance, I knew I wanted the story to be centered around kingdoms, castles, and royalty, so I knew I wanted the series to revolve around a Prince and Princess and their adventurous friends. I also knew I wanted the world to include magic and superpowers. Therefore, I created characters who were superheroes, supervillains, and who had the ability to wield magic. Other times I create characters based on motives that I know will move the story forward or add a layer of complexity to the plot such as revenge, love, greed, betrayal, and the lust for power.
